Pedestrian Crossing: An Introduction

I do indeed welcome you to this odd-ball website I'd like to call home. I think you'll come to find it a rather interesting place in the near future, or just upon glancing about. First, you ought to understand the purpose of this site. I suppose I've just created it for lack of anything better to do, but after a bit of thought I decided to turn it into a roleplay of sorts. I've come to find that explaining the way this roleplay shall work may come off as a bit complex or confusing, but I hope that with some time and {hopefully} effective description skills, this'll work out nicely. I hope. Ahem.

A Brief Description of the Site's Workings

Okay. I'll acknowledge that explaining the way this works might be a bit difficult. But I'm going to try nonetheless.

This unique system of roleplaying shall be known as a "set roleplay", due to the fact that all members shall be roleplaying in sets. A "set" is a select sequential group of roleplays, each pertaining to a different  unique series of similar roleplay topics or genres. {Ex., the war set, consisting of war-based roleplays increasing in time as they go.} So basically, say you're in the war set, you'll start with WWI, because that's the first RP in the set, right? Then there's a week for WWI. At the end of the week, roleplaying WWI, there'll be held a vote, where members decide whether they want to stay and extend the time limit for WWI, or move on to WWII, the European portion. And so the roleplay continues, advancing in time at the wills of the roleplayers.

You cannot skip ahead to the next roleplay in the set before the designated amount of time is up. However, there will be more than one set that will be active at any given time, therefore if you'd rather not spend time in WWI for fear of having your head blown off or perhaps you're just not interested, then maybe you'd rather go play in the fantasy set instead. Which is perfectly acceptable. But know that the same general rules apply for each set; no skipping ahead.

Now In More Detail

One thing you ought to know about is insurance. The term "insurance" is used to loosely describe the ability to insure safety of your character in a particular set. The system of insurance and the specific guidelines vary from set to set, but generally speaking, they're used to protect your character from death, unless you're doing something that would pretty much deliberately fate your character to death {or in some cases severe injury}, by making another character that is more likely to suffer the consequences of death or serious injury, etc., etc. It's basically making a trade. Cashing in a cheaper, less "worthy" {That sounds so mean. It's not supposed to. Mehh.} character in order to guarantee {In most, but not all cases} that your  stronger, more important character, remains free from harm. The specific details for such insurance policies can be found on the individual set's home page.

General rules of usage. I suppose eventually I'll put up a page for rules, but as of right now, all I can think of to say is to stick with common roleplaying etiquette. By that I don't mean you have to be nice to everyone around you. You don't have to get along with everyone on the site. This isn't some perfect-image Utopian society. This is the internet. I'll say that for basic rules, use proper grammar, please {No text talk!} and know that this is, for the most part, a paragraph RP. Don't like it? Leave. It's as simple as that. Also, there is going to be mature content, for lack of better terminology. Sex is allowed. Swearing is allowed. Who am I to put a taboo on that? Again, if you don't like it, please don't feel obligated to stick around.

I think that as of right now, that's all I can think of to say. I'll add on if need be.
